In this tutorial we are going to make a ludacris tag like this one:

First of all start by making New document from File - New, or simply click ctrl+N, put the background to transparent. Then take out your gradient tool (
) from the tools menu. Now change the gradients colors and use settings like this:

The colors used here were: lighter (949393) and darker (585757). Then just drag gradient from top to bottom.

Then use the brush tool (
) and select the hard round brush with a size of something like 5 pixels and use settings similar to these:

Brush once from top to bottom of the tag.

Now get some shape brushes, you can find them on our forums or from a site like Deviantart Then brush once to new layer.

And after that once again some random brushing.

Ok now search for a nice render that matches the style of the signature we are going to make, I prefer to use a pictures of famous people. In this tag were used a Ludacris render.

Now search for a random stock on google or somewhere, try to give your sig a bit of a urban feel to it, so add some buildings/ a bridge / a wall, you get the idea. Add it to your tag on new layer and erase the bottom with soft round brush.

Make new layer and fill itwith black using the bucket tool. Then add text of your choice to that layer.

Now set that layers blending mode to "Screen".

If you feel your signature is still a bit empty, take out your shape brushes again. Select a color that matches your signature (I picked dark brown) and brush a bit where you think the signature looks a bit plain. (optional: Then set the layer to Screen.)

Get a random render or stock from the internet again and add it on new layer and place it over the focal. Then start smudging it with smudge tool (
). Then erase parts that are covering your focal point and leave some smudging part of it to sides of the render.
Make new layer and use your soft round brush of around 50-100px. This is going to be our lightning point, so place it near your focal point. (look on your render for shadows, this way you can tell where the light was comming from in the original picture)

Then set that layer to Soft Light and lower the opacity to 75%.

Now add photo filter to the tag. You can add Photo filter by clicking the black/white circle (
) from the layers window and choose Photo Filter, pick one you like and add it.

Keep that on normal and 100% opacity.

Now get the same stock you used in one of the first view steps, and add it again. Again delete random parts untill you think it looks nice.

Now its time to add gradient map. You can find it in the same menu as the photo filter, then choose Gradient Map. Use a gradient map like this:

Set that to Soft Light and lower the opacity if needed 46%.

To give our signature a bit more depth and feel, we are going to add a C4D, if you dont have any C4D renders, take a look on our forums or do a search on google.

Then add some yellow scanlines to bottom corner. (you can do this by first making some vertical lines using the pen tool on a new layer, and then rotate them, using the function you can find in the edit menu)

Then set that layer to Soft Light.

Add some more yellow scanlines to that spot. Now make them smaller.

Then make new layer and go to Image -> Apply Image. Then add a clipping mask to this layer by going to Image -> Create Clipping mask. Now move this layer a bit and you will see that it effects the layer below, this is a great technique and you should remmember it!

Make a new layer and fill the background with black. Start erasing parts of it with a soft round brush of any size and leave some to the corners and sides of the layer.

Now make couple of layers and add some yellow and white brushing near your render, add them where you want the light to come from.

Make new layer and apply image to it. Then go to Blending Options by, Layer - Blending Options. Then set settings like this:

Keep that layer on Normal and 100% opacity and erase parts of that layer. Now it should look something similar to this:

Next step is to add green photo filter like this:

Keep it on Normal and 100% opacity.

Add new layer with blue background. Then add some random green brushing over it and smudge it if you want.

This will add some color. Now set the blending mode of this to Soft Light or Overlay. I choose overlay.

Now it's time to add some adjustment layers again. First add gradient map like this:

Set it to Soft Light and lower the opacity to 59%.

Add photo filter layer again like this:

Now it should look like something like this:

Make 2 layers and add some yellow splatter brushing to both of the layers.

Then add new layer top of both brush layers and apply the image to both of them. Then move them some and create clipping masks to em, by Image - Create Clipping Mask.

Then again to add some adjustment layers. First brightness and contrast layer. Use settings similar to this:

Set the opacity of this layer to 55%. Then add Color Balance adjustment layer using these settings.

Then Photo filter layer of this:

Ok that's all of the adjustments at the moment. Now your tag should look similar to this:

Make new layer and apply image. Then add High Pass filter by, Filter - Other - High Pass and use random settings.

Set that layer to Soft Light and the opacity to 75%.

Now first add custom shape under the upcoming text spot. And then start adding some text to the tag, untill you are happy with the outcome.

Then just add black borders.

And you are finally done. Thanks for reading this tutorial made by Haapa. The sig is owned by www.sigtutorials.com!
